Message from Principal

Assalamu Alaikum wr. wb.

Dear Parents, Students, Members of our Community, and Friends of Tokyo IQRA International School,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to our school.

Since its establishment in 2014, TIIS has sought to serve Muslim families in Japan by providing children with a strong academic education in an environment where their Islamic faith, identity, and values are nurtured and respected.

At IQRA, we believe that education is about much more than completing textbooks or preparing for examinations. It is about helping young people grow in faith, knowledge, character, and responsibility.

Our aim is to nurture students who know who they are, understand their purpose, seek beneficial knowledge, think carefully, act with good character, and use their abilities to benefit others.

We want our students to develop a meaningful relationship with Allah, the Qur’an, and the Sunnah, while also becoming confident learners who are curious, thoughtful, disciplined, and prepared for the challenges of the modern world.

For us, Islamic education is not limited to Qur’an and Islamic Studies lessons. It should be reflected throughout school life — in the way students learn, the way they treat others, the responsibilities they carry, and the choices they make.

This is especially important for Muslim children growing up in Japan. Our students should be able to understand and engage positively with Japanese society, communicate confidently with others, pursue further education and future careers, and contribute meaningfully to the communities around them — while remaining firmly grounded in their Islamic identity and values.

Character, therefore, remains central to our work. Knowledge and academic achievement are valuable, but they must be accompanied by qualities such as amanah, honesty, discipline, kindness, humility, perseverance, and respect.

We also recognize that the school cannot fulfill this responsibility alone. Parents are the first and most important educators of their children, and we see the relationship between home and school as an essential partnership in education and tarbiyah.

As TIIS enters a new stage of development under the Japan Muslim Education Trust (JMET), we remain committed to continuously improving the quality of our teaching, Islamic education, student support, facilities, and overall learning environment.

Our goal is not simply to produce students who achieve good results, but to nurture young Muslims who are grounded in faith, strong in character, serious about knowledge, and prepared to contribute positively to society.

I am deeply grateful to our teachers, staff, parents, students, and community members who continue to support the school and its mission.

May Allah grant us sincerity, wisdom, and barakah in our efforts, and may He make our children a source of goodness for their families, communities, and society. Amen.

Wassalamu Alaikum wr. wb.
